For Mednyánszky it was important to have a circle of friends around him, with whom he could discuss spirituality, politics and art. That gave him a feeling of stability and having a base. He gave various animal nicknames to the members of his circle, for example Gyula Pekár  ̶  Rhino, Dezső Malonyay  ̶  Bulldog, and so on. The name he had for himself was The Old Dog.
