Christ before Pilate

Rembrandt's scene of Christ in front of Pilate looks like you took it on a mobile phone with a portrait filter in theatrical lighting mode. And this is exactly the ""chiaroscuro"" technique he often used to make what he wanted to express in the painting come to the front and immediately catch our eye. 

It's also worth observing that the artist tried to squeeze a huge number of people into the composition, and almost every single one of them is looking elsewhere, like when you're trying to take a photo at a family reunion.
