Laubert's chalice is assembled from cheap kitsch parts, and you may wonder, looking at it, if you haven't wandered into some convenience store that got forgotten somewhere during the first boom of Chinese plastic trinkets. 

The work This Year's Baroque refers to church furnishings as an important part of Christian rituals, or perhaps just expensive decorations of manor houses that were often of no practical use, and ironizes them with the use of cheap and kitsch materials and components.
