Konštantín Bauer focused on portraying the life of inhabitants of the pro-letarian periphery of interwar Košíce. The coarse social-grotesque spirit of his portraits is reflected in the hunched bodies and faces of tragic heroes and heroines, who in exhaustion give themselves up to their fate.
